The countries included (the US, Canada, Brazil, Guatemala, Ecuador, Botswana, Egypt, Kenya, France, Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the UK, Poland, USSR, China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, and Thailand) were chosen with an eye toward broad geographical, socioeconomic, and geopolitical representation.
