Richard Schickel is the author, co-author or editor of thirty-six books and the writer-director-producer of a number of television documentaries. A film critic for Life and Time magazines for forty-three years, Schickel has held a Guggenheim Fellowship and was awarded an honorary degree by the American Film Institute as well as the British Film Institute Book Prize, and the Telluride Silver Medal, for his contribution to film history.
