Considered the first significant graphic novel, upon publication in 1978 it ushered in a new kind of personal, non-super-hero genre of comics storytelling. Since then, Eisner went on to write and illustrate over twenty award-winning graphic novels. Will Eisner: Champion of the Graphic Novel by noted historian Paul Levitz celebrates Eisner by including not only unpublished and rare art, photographs, letters and sketches from the archives, but original interviews with creators such as Jules Feiffer, Art Spiegelman, Scott McCloud, Jeff Smith and Neil Gaiman, all of whom knew and were inspired by Eisner and have offered their support to help publicise this long-awaited tribute to a comics legend.
Biografía del autor:
Paul Levitz, the former President and Publisher of DC Comics, has edited, written and produced hundreds of award-winning comics over his 35-year career, and is the author of the Eisner Award-winning book 75 Years of DC Comics: The Art of Modern Mythmaking (Taschen, October 2011). Levitz lives in New York City, where he currently teaches writing and media at Columbia University, Pace University, and Manhattanville College. Brad Meltzer is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Inner Circle, The Book of Fate and seven other bestselling thrillers including The Tenth Justice, Dead Even, The First Counsel, The Millionaires, The Zero Game, The Book of Lies and his newest, The Fifth Assassin. In addition to his fiction, Meltzer is one of a handful of authors to have books on multiple bestseller lists: non-fiction (History Decoded), advice (Heroes for My Son and Heroes for My Daughter), children's books (I Am Amelia Earhart and I Am Abraham Lincoln) and even graphic novels (Identity Crisis and Justice League of America), for which he won the prestigious Eisner Award.
