Críticas:
Omar on ice could jump higher than anyone else, so the high diving board appears to offer just another opportunity for a bear of little fear to show his stuff. Not so, sadly. Omar has that all-too-familiar feeling of terror as he surveys the vast distance between where he stands and where he must land. His friends below tell him not to worry but -Omar DID worry. He could NOT do it. Finally, Omar did the only thing he could do. He turned around, crouched down, and crawled back. Slowly he made his way down the steps.- Oh the ignominy of it all. Luckily, an errant balloon from Elsie's bouquet offers the ideal way for Omar to recover his wounded pride and, unwittingly, conquer the fear of high places that besieges us all - bears and humans - from time to time. (The Globe and Mail)

On the last day of school, Miss Fudge throws a summer party for the students-Now Omar the bear, a student, loves the pond in winter but he soon realizes the summer pond doesn't bring out the best in him. Discouraged, he sits on the sidelines until something happens. A friend needs help. He leaps to her aid and miracle of miracles and with the help of a bouquet of balloons, he overcomes his fear of the water and dives in. Young children will love the little bear and sympathize with his strength. The pictures are summery and the bears are adorable. (Sunday Republican, Waterbury, CT)

Reseña del editor:
Although Omar the bear loves the pond when it is frozen over, he has a hard time swimming, diving, and floating in it during the summer, forcing him to watch the fun from the sidelines, but when a friend needs help, Omar stops thinking about himself and comes to his friend's aid, demonstrating that Omar has a new talent after all.
