A Near Fine print in frame. *** Originally painted by Alonzo Chappel, American artist, well known for his depictions of Revolutionary War events and persons. This scene shows General Putnam racing down a hill, with British Dragoons in close pursuit. Putnam was riding for reinforcements, when the dragoons appeared and started the chase. They stopped and fired their pistols at the general, who turned around waving his sword, taunting them in response. A Legendary moment.***.
